What Is Technical Co-Founder?

A technical co-founder is the technology leader in a founding team. They bring engineering expertise, build the product, make technical architecture decisions, and often manage engineering hiring. In many successful startups, the technical co-founder is as critical as the business co-founder, handling different competencies that together launch successful companies.

Technical co-founders share equity (versus hired CTOs who take salary) and are deeply invested in success.
